Quite honestly, the council typically sits on the sidelines and allows the taxpayers to be taken advantage of. Reform is long overdue both at City Hall and PMUA. Hopefully, the council will step to the plate on both issues, demand accountability, hold people responsible, and refer any wrongdoings to the attorney general. As an elected official you owe at least that much to the residents.Hold'Em Accountablenoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7246307564175102370.post-33875843416997512562011-09-30T15:27:04.908-04:002011-09-30T15:27:04.908-04:00Cory, I think this is a thoughtful post. The ethical lapses should concern every Plainfield resident.

RebeccaAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7246307564175102370.post-88017344935003464592011-09-30T11:58:04.780-04:002011-09-30T11:58:04.780-04:00Dear anonymous - no charges have been made against...Dear anonymous - no charges have been made against the Mayor or anyone as of yet. This is an objective investigation, not a witch-hunt. Criminal indictments would come out of evidence from the investigation which, because of the Mayors lack of cooperation, is taking much longer than necessary. Aside from finding criminal wrong-doing, my reading of the City Charter empowers the Council to take personnel action for wrong-doing that is related to ethics or performance. These actions could apply to employees but not the Council or Mayor.

(My previous comment was deleted becauseI found a typo.)Cory Storchhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14827700290350107786noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7246307564175102370.post-29985503476348283102011-09-30T11:54:52.441-04:002011-09-30T11:54:52.441-04:00This comment has been removed by the author.Cory Storchhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14827700290350107786noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7246307564175102370.post-58767167384518521652011-09-30T07:25:30.781-04:002011-09-30T07:25:30.781-04:00So how much money are we paying for the investigat...So how much money are we paying for the investigation? Can we say with true conviction, that the charges brought against the mayor will result in a criminal indictment? If you believe this is a criminal offense then just refer this to the county prosecutor. If you want to say she breeched some ethical laws then say it and lets be done. We could be spending as much for the investigation as we are for the WBLS event. That is a double waste.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
